My story

Rachel grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, surrounded by family and faith. She built a successful career in Dallas, married John, and together they raised two sons. Life felt exactly as it was supposed to be.

That changed the night John came home visibly shaken, with news he had been hiding for nearly a year. After months of quiet doctor visits, the diagnosis was confirmed at the Mayo Clinic: ALS — Lou Gehrig’s disease. A progressive illness that destroys the body while the mind stays fully intact. No cure. No treatment. No hope. Two to five years to live.

Driving home after the longest day of their lives, John said, “I have a headache.” Rachel replied, “I have a heartache.”
This is a story about love, resilience, and choosing how to face the unimaginable.
