Hi friends,
If you’ve ever been blindsided by life, I think this story will resonate.
I recently had the honor of joining The Jeff Crilley Show to share a chapter of my life I never imagined I’d live, let alone write a book about.
My husband John was vibrant, athletic, full of life. But after months of unexplained symptoms, we found ourselves at the Mayo Clinic facing a diagnosis no one wants to hear: ALS. Lou Gehrig’s disease. No cure. No treatment. Just… time. And not much of it.
He came home, stood by our bed, and said the words I’ll never forget: “I’m going to die.” In that moment, my world shifted.
And yet, even through the heartbreak, we found a way to celebrate. To love deeper. To live louder. To finish well.
That’s what The Widow Chose Red? is all about. Red, because it’s the color of love, of passion, and of the Holy Spirit. And in the face of unimaginable loss, I didn’t want to mourn in black. I wanted to honor a life well lived.
John and I talked about it all: Grief, Resilience, Raising boys as a single mom,Faith in crisis, and that Supernatural strength we can all tap into. Not because we’re superheroes, but because we’ve been given the ultimate Helper: The Holy Spirit.
I wrote this book for you. Whether you’re walking through illness, loss, caregiving, or just feeling knocked off course, this is for you. And if you’re part of a group looking for someone to speak life, faith, and real hope into the room, I’d be honored to be that voice.

You are not alone. You don’t need to have all the answers. And it’s okay to cry, question, or crumble. But don’t forget… God is still writing your story.
And friend, it’s not over yet.
With love,
Rachel
