So, it happened. After years of journaling, praying, rewriting (and let’s be honest—overthinking), we launched The Widow Chose Red? into the world with a party that was anything but quiet. If you were there, you know… and if you missed it, let me paint the picture for you.
May 13th, 2025. A sunny Texas afternoon. A restaurant filled with music, hugs, and heavenly fried chicken. Whistle Britches in Southlake turned into something more like “Whistle Hallelujah” as people gathered to celebrate the power of storytelling, resilience, and remembering out loud.
The tables were lined with deviled eggs, hot biscuits, and cookies too pretty to eat (but let’s be real… we ate them anyway). Balloons floated overhead, laughter echoed, and red—yes, red—was the color of the day.
And speaking of red, I walked in wearing it. Not to make a statement, but because it felt like me. The me I’ve become after walking through some very real, very raw life chapters. Red isn’t just bold—it’s brave, it’s love, it’s alive. And thanks to all of you who showed up, I didn’t feel one bit alone.
One of the biggest blessings? Sharing the space with Patty Aubery, the powerhouse behind Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul. Her words reminded us all why we share our stories—not to relive the pain, but to reveal the purpose.
We also took a moment (okay, several) to honor John. The book may carry my voice, but it carries his heart too. Proceeds from the event went to the LiveLikeLou Foundation, helping others affected by ALS and continuing the fight he fought with such grace.
To every single person who came, cheered, cried, ate, and bought books—you helped make this day unforgettable. To those just joining the journey, welcome. This book is my heart on paper. And the launch? Just the beginning.
Stay tuned, friends. There’s more to come.
