Writing a book is on my bucket list.. as it may be for you as well. As with many things in our life, saying it is so much easier than doing it sometimes, right?
While the story of my journey with Jesus and John during his diagnosis and death from ALS is important to me. Is it really something that anyone else is interested in?
Well, there is really only one way to find out, Right?
Pitch it to an editor, an agent, or a publisher.
It just so happens, that every year there is a conference for just that purpose. She Speaks is produced by Proverbs 31 Ministries, based in Matthews, NC. It is headed by Lysa Terkuerst, the New York Times bestselling author and speaker.
Lysa’s passion is teaching women how to become published authors. She provides a forum where they can sharpen their skills, step out of their comfort zone in a safe space, make connections, and press toward their God-given dreams.
Registering for the conference was the easy part. Preparing for it… Another story.
Assembling the transcripts, notes, scribbles, and half-finished thoughts I compiled during these past months was a process. Compiling a finished book proposal was daunting. Yet when it was completed, I felt ready…ready to pitch this piece of my heart to a few souls in Charlotte.
Off I went. No one said the book wouldn’t work. But no one asked me to sign on the dotted line either—more feedback in a few months.
So, I will wait, work, and know that God’s timing is ALWAYS perfect. And this piece of my pitched heart will find its way back… Or not.
